about us

ABOUT US

Specialised Transport Limited (STL) is a New Zealand family owned and operated Transport Company. We specialise in the cartage of bulk aggregates, on and off site cartage, demolition and all aspects of bulk tipping.

Our fleet consists of over 30 trucks and trailer units. We have a combination of 6 wheelers and 8 wheelers, giving us the ability to cover all aspects of our customers’ requirements. Our entire fleet is in RT contact with our despatch base and all are equipped with GPS tracking systems enabling up to the minute locations as well as daily run cycles.

All STL equipment is maintained to a high level by our in-house team of mechanics and engineers - therefore minimising and eliminating disruptions affecting ours and ultimately our clients' businesses.

We seek to employ competent, skilled and highly experienced operators setting the standards our competitors strive to achieve. Our operators are regularly drug and alcohol tested, are inducted into most landfill and worksites in the region, and are experienced in the handling and tipping of most products and materials. All staff are supplied uniform, hi-vis, safety glasses, hard hats, overalls, and safety boots so they are well equipped to meet all site PPE requirements and are encouraged to promote safe work place practices wherever they are directed to work.

We are 21/22 Sitewise green accredited and are at present obtaining health and safety and ACC accreditations which will enable us to further increase our safety awareness and performances.

STL operators are independently competency assessed and successfully complete the Logbook and Worktime rule course. STL has operators who have achieved SAFED DTI (Safe And Fuel Efficient Driving Driver Training Instructor’s) qualification giving us the ability to train internally to SAFEDNZ (Safe And Fuel Efficient Driving New Zealand) level. All external training is completed by Commercial Road Skills who lead the way in courses and online training helping fleet managers, owners and drivers define what skills and tools will assist operators, decrease cost, improve efficiency and reduce compliance issues.

As a company we are constantly motivated to investigate and trial ways in which to trim expenses so as to pass on extremely competitive rates to our clients. Some of our tactics include:

  • Regular tyre rotations and pressure checks to reduce fuel consumption

  • Fuel additives for cleaner burning, reduced emissions  and more efficient engines

  • Reducing fuel consumption

  • Speed governing – increased efficiency, reduced emissions and fuel consumption

  • Load covering – less resistance for increased efficiency

  • HPMV where applicable for increase load carrying capacity

  • NZTA approved in-house driver trainers

"Due to 25 years’ experience in the bulk tipping market, operator expertise and innovative ways to run a smarter business, we believe we are able to provide extremely competitive rates and to deliver a level of service not only to fulfil but to surpass our customers’ expectations.”
